The Rustburg Band program is
dedicated to "Striving for Excellence" in all musical and
education forms and aims to provide all participating students with the
fundamental, historical, theoretical, and musical knowledge to allow
them to progress and delve further into the study of music. Furthermore,
the Rustburg Band program goal is to provide students with positive,
life-changing experiences that will serve to broaden their education,
and allow them to personally experience new and unique performance
opportunities, cultures, and repertoire.
The Bands of Rustburg Middle
and High Schools aim to mold students to understand and fully realize
their own potential for excellence. Using music as the teaching medium,
Rustburg Band students will be taught discipline, citizenship, teamwork,
goal-setting and fulfillment, work-ethic, musicality, and to realize
their own skills and talents through individual and collective group
challenge. Students in the Rustburg Band program will be positive
representatives of the Rustburg community. We will strive to
create an environment through music and the arts that will foster,
challenge, motivate, develop and demand the students to become
responsible and mature young adults in all facets of their life. We
believe band combines the best of music, art, athleticism, dedication,
character development and maturity while participating in an activity
that can lead to a life-long enjoyment of music.
